Fantastic product, so easy to use! November 25, 2008 N. Bruce 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
Was recommended this by a friend. Was amazed, so easy to use. I'm not technical (have to get the kids to operate the remote control virtually!!) but this was fantastic. Easy instructions and product did exactly what it says. Breathing new life into my old collection of music classics.
Easy Peasy December 23, 2008 Mr. Christopher Lancaster 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'd long thought that I should transfer my hundreds of old vinyl records and tapes to something more permanent, and finally bit the bullet and ordered the Magix software. I wasn't disappointed. It comes with it's own phono pre-amp to boost the signal from a turntable into your PC, and the only tricky thing was working out a) how to connect this to the PC, and b) how to power the pre-amp, as it came without a power-lead, and there was no obvious place to put the battery that it came with. These hurdles out of the way, things got a lot easier. With the supplied leads, you can connect your turntable or tape deck to the phono in sockets on your PC, thus relaying the sound through the soundcard. It's then a simple case of playing your record or tape, and hitting the record button on the simple to use interface. There's some nifty built in features, such as automatic hiss reduction for tapes, and the ability to automatically detect where the breaks are between tracks on your LPs, and to create separate MP3 files for each. Easy to use, and does what it says on the tin - although I'm not sure that my wife will appreciate the long hours that I am now going to spend sitting in my study and playing all of my old records and tapes to get them onto my PC.
Great, easy way to move your vinyl to computer January 4, 2009 Steven Brown Got this because I've had a lot of vinyl sitting in the loft for a few years. Found this product very easy to use. was easy to set up, then easy to run through the vinyls onto the computer. I'm pretty computer savvy, so I also lent it to an older relative to try out, and they found it similarly easy to use - obviously this is fairly important, as it's probably a higher proportion of the older folk who would like to use this. all in all - excellent product, highly recommended.
Excellent Product but expensive mistake. December 25, 2008 Tellboy (Manchester) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
A word of caution it is not idiot proof. As my old fashioned heavy Hi Fi unit and turntable were in the living room and my desk top PC in my upstairs office I thought it would be a good idea to use a Dell Laptop. This software comes with a pre-amp so I connected my turntable to this using the lead supplied. The Dell laptop had no line in socket just microphone and headphones. Mistake number 1 was putting the jack plug into the microphone. Mistake number 2 was spending ages on the software automatic sound level. Even when it adjusted automatically to the full minimum setting it reported level to high of course before finally I got nothing and now the microphone doesnt work on the laptop and the turntable doesnt work back in the Hi Fi unit. I was still able to review the software as I had downloaded some 78rpm Jazz recordings some time ago and it did indeed do as it said. Clicks removed, background hissing removed and more than a 100% improvement. It seems to have numerous editing and mastering functions I could not begin to understand which you can control step by step or full manual but I just selected the automatic for everything. I will go ahead with this but buy a ION - iTTUSB-05 USB Record deck and be much more careful how I connect the plugs.
It is the answer foranyone with a big vinyl collection December 23, 2008 Andy Edwards (Essex UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Simple to install, easy to use, with instructions on how to hook up your turntable and tape deck. It had all the connections as well as a pre-amp should you need one ( I didn't appear to). The results were very good, and it's up to you whether you leave in all the crackles and hiss you get with the origianls, or clean up your recording. The latter is simple and requires no specialist ability as the program will do it all for you - although there did look to be enough buttons, switches and stuff for those who do know what they are doing to customise the results. I liked the ability to trim tracks which had either too long an intro or fade out, and the labelling of the newly created digital track is simplicity itself. I'm a fan, and I'd recommend iy to anyone who has a collection that they want to bring back to life for the digital age
