5 out of 5 stars Supernaturaly brilliant   August 27, 2008

I've been a huge fan of Supernatural since my best mate forced me to watch the first series a year ago and I'm happy to admit I'm pretty obsessed! All three series are brilliant, I'm happily in love with Jensen Ackles, yum. This series is great also, not as heartbreakingly sad as series 2 but it has alot of humour, espeically 'bad day at black rock' and sams temper in 'mystery spot'.
I recommend this to all fans, and if you haven't sen it yet, order it now!

Let me start out by saying: I can't possibly say anything negative about this season nor this series.
It has a brilliant main plot with new seasonending-leadups every year which always keeps it fresh and new. It also has great writers (especially Sera Gamble) and puts the old horrormyths to excellent use, such as Hellhounds, Vampires, Ghouls, Ghost, etc. But what really keeps me hooked to the show and on the edge of my seat during every episode is the excellent acting done, mainly, by Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles but much praise should also go to Jim Beaver (Bobby), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (John W.), Lauren Cohan (Bela, though sadly she didn't make it into the fourth season), Samantha Ferris (Ellen), and Alona Tal (Jo). Thanks to great casting every season just gets better and better. Of course this is all beacause of series creator Eric Kripke and his great sense of filmmaking.

I am so looking forward to this dvd. S3 was an absolutely fantastic season with some amazing episodes and wonderful acting... by Jared Padalecki in particular. The season, although sadly cut short by the writers' strike, gave us heartbreaking sadness, kickass action, ghostly and demonic chills, gore, and laugh out loud comedy. Highlights of the season for me were Mystery Spot, A Very Supernatural Christmas, Fresh Blood and No Rest For The Wicked. And, as with S1 and S2, throughout there is the incredible chemistry between Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles which is the very heart of this show.

As other reviewers have said, this season suffered just a little from the writers' strike. You can't help but wonder what they could have come up with if they hadn't had to contend with it - I assume, for example, that the character of Lilith would have had more of a build-up and a longer introduction, rather than being sprung on us so sharply. But for all that, I think everyone involved did amazingly well, despite being handicapped by the strike and a curtailed season, they managed to produce a top quality season which never disappointed.

There wasn't a single episode in this season that I didn't thoroughly enjoy and I can't wait for the DVD to arrive so that I can revisit them. They even managed to make me like Ghostfacers - despite it being a genre of episode that I have loathed in other TV shows. When I heard the theme I groaned and settled down to be hugely disappointed. But the sheer genius of all involved won through and I found it a wonderful addition to the season, at times funny and sad. I also enjoyed Bella and Ruby - the final moments of Time Is On My Side still make me shudder. One of the best exits of a character I've seen. Pitiful, but still, deeply ironic!

At times thought-provoking, spooky, poignant, angsty and funny, it brightened up my Sunday evenings. Roll on season four!

5 out of 5 stars Season 3 lives up to all expectations.   August 17, 2008

Just sorry the writers' strike cut this season short. There's great acting, excellent storylines and humour in bucket loads. Supernatural rocks!
